The much-awaited finals of the IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship were held on Sunday, 19th May at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club in Kolkata. During this competition, we witnessed fierce rivalry among the 116 golfers from across India. In the finals, we had Kanav Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh who went up against Manoviraj Shekhawat from Rajasthan. The finals were scheduled for 36 rounds. In the first 18 holes, Kanav Chauhan dominated the game by going 8 up. However, we witnessed an extraordinary comeback from Manoviraj Shekhawat in the next few rounds as he closed the gap from 8 down to 4 down. At last, Kanav Chauhan won the finals by a scoreline of 5 & 4 to clinch the title. The 15-year-old showed grit and resilience to emerge victorious and claim the title of the most prestigious golf competition outside the British Isles.
