The largest junior golf competition in India is all set to be inaugurated in the Tollygunge Club, on October 15. More than 20 schools all over the country will take part in this prestigious event for establishing their golfing supremacy. Scheduled to be hosted on October 16 and 17, the Inter School Golf Competition will be played by over a hundred budding golfers from various parts of the country, with the aim to secure the title of the champion in the prestigious tournament.

The Inter School Golf Championship was organized for the first time in 2005, and since then, it continues to be one of the most important tours for junior golfers across the country to strive against the best of the lot. In association with the digital partner since 2005, My Kolkata, this event is known for being the nation’s premiere most inter school tournament and is a proud milestone for the upcoming golf talents of India who are budding with potentials.

The pristine greens of Tollygunge Club have experienced the rise and nourishment of many golf prodigies, illustrating great prowess in golf during the prestigious Inter School Golf Championship over the years since its beginning, with Viraj Madappa, Siddhi Kapoor, Udayjit Bhalotia, Tutul Ali and Sunit Chowrasia as prominent alumni.

This year’s Inter School Golf Championship is incredibly noteworthy as this year marks the 20^th year of the event, 20 long years of fostering promising golfing talent along with the motto of promoting the game and camaraderie and sportsmanship among young golfers. The 20^th Inter School Golf Championship will be divided into two diverse mix of playing formats:

1. Texas Scramble on Round 1 (Wednesday, October 16)
2. Betterball Stroke Play on Round 2 (Thursday, October 17)

The competitors are divided into six different divisions:

1. Open category under 9 years
2. Open category under 13 years
3. Open category over 13 years
4. Under 9 years for girls
5. Under 13 years for girls
6. Over 13 years for girls.

All the schools of Kolkata, as well schools all over India will be sending down the best of their talented players on the qualifying round that is scheduled to be organized on Tuesday, October 15.

The 20^th Inter School Golf Championship is equipped to foster developing talents through gaining experience by facing off strict competitors in challenging, yet a healthy and friendly competition.

The 20^th Inter School Golf Championship is partnered by Muskaan, a pan-India initiative by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation and the Education for All trust, aiming to promote skill development among the marginalized children and the youth of the country and make them employable. The education partner of the event is George Protouch School of Sports, which is an exclusive sports education institute, aiming to impart the best quality sports education and provide a robust network of employment in the world of sports.
