  • Chanting, singing, breathing exercises, and repetitious positions are all part of Kundalini yoga. Its purpose is to awaken the Kundalini energy, also called shakti. This is spiritual energy supposed to reside at the base of your spine.

Kundalini yoga is believed to expand your consciousness and help you transcend past your ego by awakening this energy.”Awareness yoga” is a term used to describe the practise.

“Kundalini” is derived from the Sanskrit word “kundal,” which means “circle.” It can also apply to a coiled snake. Kundalini energy, according to practitioners, is like that coiled snake: it sleeps at the base of your spine, unaroused.

Kundalini yoga is used to activate this energy, allowing it to flow up and down your spine through the chakras.

Chakras are the seven energy centres in your body according to yoga. They are as follows:

  •  root chakra
  •  sacral chakra
  •  naval, or solar plexus, chakra
  •  heart chakra
  •  throat chakra
  •  third eye chakra
  •  crown chakra

Kundalini energy is said to help balance these chakras and contribute to spiritual wellness as it increases. Kundalini yoga is claimed to lead to spiritual enlightenment with constant practice. A “Kundalini awakening” is what this is known as.

    Benefits of Kundalini Yoga :

  •  Stress and anxiety relief: An 8-week course of Kundalini yoga reduced participants’ anxiety levels, according to a 2018 study. According to the experts, Kundalini yoga could be a viable therapeutic option for those suffering from a generalised anxiety disorder.
  •  Improves cognitive function: Kundalini Yoga showed short and long term improvements in cognitive functioning.
  •  Boosts self-perception: Kundalini yoga may increase body positivity and self-acceptance, according to a small 2017 study. Nine women diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa had these improvements. The researchers believe that Kundalini yoga can aid in the treatment of eating disorders by increasing self-perception and self-appreciation.
  •  Spiritual Enlightenment: As your Kundalini energy wakes, it’s thought that you’ll become more spiritually connected to yourself and others. These advantages have not been scientifically verified, but they are backed up by personal experience.

Other styles of yoga are less spiritual than Kundalini yoga. Unlike other forms of yoga, Kundalini yoga incorporates chanting, singing, motions, and breathing into particular rhythms. The main focus is to help people achieve spiritual enlightenment.

Kundalini yoga has several scientifically validated benefits. It may help relieve tension and anxiety, improve cognitive performance, and promote self-perception and self-appreciation, according to the study.
If you’re pregnant, have breathing problems, an injury, joint discomfort, or balance issues, consult your doctor to see if Kundalini yoga is right for you.
