The Golf Junior Programme at East Point Golf Club, Vishakhapatnam, sets a new standard in developing young talent and fostering interest for the game. Unlike most other golf programmes, this programme is not limited to club members’ children but warmly welcomes non-member juniors under 18 from across the region.

Golf, renowned as a lifelong outdoor pursuit, plays an important role in shaping children’s character, instilling sportsmanship, and honing leadership skills. Moreover, it provides a unique blend of nature immersion and networking opportunities while promoting physical and mental well-being. The programme is deeply rooted in imparting essential values in juniors.

With a clear vision of promoting junior golf and producing regional champions, EPGC’s junior programme offers accessible and cost-effective packages, featuring sessions five days a week. These comprehensive packages include both range classes and on-course rounds to ensure overall development. The programme includes rigorous performance monitoring, such as score progress analysis and course records tracking, which is overseen by the coaches. The programme benefits from an experienced support team comprising three certified golf coaches and a skilled fitness coach dedicated to nurturing young talent. The Managing Committee of the junior programme demonstrates unwavering support and dedication to promoting and developing the programme through various ways.

Various engagement strategies, such as 18-hole tournaments and skills events, keep juniors interested while also encouraging friendships and healthy competition. The recent EPGC Junior Skills League 2024 witnessed over 60 enthusiastic participants, embodying teamwork, enjoyment, and spirited competition.

Furthermore, to ignite interest among beginners, the programme hosts three-month-long summer camps that provide foundational golf training to juniors under the age of 18. These camps serve as a gateway to introduce newcomers to the sport, thereby enhancing awareness and participation among juniors.

The junior programme runs under the professional guidance of Mr. Indrajit Bhalotia, who has been one of India’s leading professional golfers, and one of the six master teaching professionals recognised by National Golf Academy of India. He is the director of Protouch Golf Academy and has contributed towards establishing multiple academies across the country. He has been a professional golfer for over 34 years and brings unparalleled expertise to the programme’s leadership, ensuring its long-term success.
