Golf is a difficult game that requires the investment of strategic thinking to attain better scores, and there is no doubt in the fact that weather conditions, particularly wind, plays a very important role, not just in bringing better scores but also in the soaring of scores.

Golfers tend to feel tensed while playing in a gusty weather. While most of the golfers feel that it would be easy to fight his/her way through the gusty wind by hitting the ball harder, others believe in hitting the ball very high with a lot of spin. However, these ways are completely wrong, and can spoil your game.
The best strategies to upgrade your game in gusty conditions are as follows:
1. Tee Low: It is important to minimize the ball’s exposure to the gusts. So, it is necessary to tee off lower than usual to reduce the ball’s flight height because a lower tee shot travels on a more penetrating ball flight. If a golfer tees off low, then he/she has higher chances of acquiring a more predictable trajectory due to less wind resistance.
2. Take An Easier Swing: It is a huge misconception to think that one can combat gusty wind with a hard swing. If the swing is hard, the golf ball swings more, and such spins are bad in windy conditions. Thus, it is better to go for a smooth swing as it promotes better rhythm and timing.
3. Use Clubs: It is important to select the right kind of club when it is windy. It is always suggested by all great golfers that it is necessary to take at least three or more clubs on a windy day rather than on a normal day. On a windy day, a golfer would require more clubs to achieve the desired distance. It is always advised to choose clubs with less lofts as they produce a lower flight.
4. Hit Solid Strikes: Balls that are struck in the right manner, travel through the wind more effectively. Hence, crisp shots prove to be advantageous on a windy day because such strikes survive the animosity of the weather.
5. Focusing on the Position of the Ball: Positioning the ball slightly back in the stance can help any golfer achieve a lower trajectory because it makes the ball less susceptible to the wind.
Apart from these, wat really helps a golfer play a good game on a windy day is when he/she has the habit of practicing on a windy day. This way, one gets a feel and idea of how winds affect your game and shots. The knowledge of this, clubbed with patience, calmness and strength of mind, can help a golfer overcome the challenge that he/she faces on a windy day and achieve scores as per their expectations.
