Abhishek Mitra of India finished third (net score) at the British Mid Amateur Championship, which was held at the Woodhall Spa Golf Club from May 30th to June 1st, with a score of 234 (+17).  The event took place over three rounds at the Woodhall Spa golf course.  Three hours north of London. One 36-hole course is called Bracken, and the other is called Hotchkin. Hotchkin is ranked 47th among the top 60 golf courses in the world. The event drew nearly 72 participants. Mitra, went on to compete in the British Mid Amateur.  Round one was played on the Bracken course, which featured undulating greens and thick rough.  Abhishek was leading the tournament after round one with an even par score and a three-shot lead. Immediately after submitting the round one score the round 2 started.  With rain coming down and temperature dipping to almost 4 degrees and no caddy for Abhishek it was bit too much , he was tired and exhausted.  He didn’t come up with a great score. However on day 2 round 3 which was played at the Hotchin course Abhishek bounced back from 9th position to tied 3rd with score of 75 three over. He was just one shot away from the winning score a birdie at the par 5 , 18th hole would have given him a chance for play off , however a 18 footer putt just shyd away from the cup to give him a tied 3rd place finish. He will again go out to play The Scottish Mid to be held at Troon in September 2023.

England’s Darren Rix won the tournament with a score of 233; another British golfer, Matt Peacock, had the same score but finished second because Rix’s final-day score was higher.
