Golf is not merely a game. Like any other sport, golf is a game of life. It shapes the lives of the players, and teaches them the importance of discipline, perseverance, and taking up challenges in order to have a fulfilled life.

However, playing golf needs a beginner player to follow certain etiquette and rules that will not only improve one’s game, but will also improve lifestyle at large. The top 5 etiquette associated with golf are as follows:

Maintaining Punctuality: Punctuality is the key to success and as a budding golfer it is very important to learn that arriving on time is a very important golf etiquette. By arriving on time, you not only show respect to your game, but also to your fellow players and associates.

Correct Dressing: Dressing well and putting on the correct attire according to the place one is visiting is a part of good manners. It is important for a budding golfer to arrive in polo T-Shirts accompanied with formal trousers or athletic shorts/skirts for women, and golf shorts reaching up to the kneecap for men. The golf attire will be completed by wearing socks and sports/golf shoes.

Maintain Silence: Silence is golden, especially in the game of golf. By maintaining silence, a player not only avoids causing distraction for other players but also for oneself. It is important to remember that even a whisper can shift a golfer’s focus from taking the perfect swing.

Correct Standing: It is rude to stand behind someone while one is putting or hitting a shot. Besides, one can get hurt if he/she stands right behind a player who is taking his/her shot.

Proper Walking: It is unethical to walk in a player’s line as doing so can leave marks of the spikes of your shoes on the path. As a result of this, the path of the ball that other players played will be severely affected. Thus, it is important to maintain the integrity of golf in the course.

Golf as a game humbles us by teaching us to reflect into our lives alongside respecting the emotions and demands of others. As a budding golfer it is the responsibility of a player to constantly work to maintain the integrity of the game on the course besides maintaining safety for oneself and others.
