Fichardt leads the leaderboard after the first round of the Investec South African Open Championship 2025, being held at the Durban Country Club, Durban, South Africa, from February 27 to March 2.
Forty nine year old South African golfer Darren Fichardt, five times winner of the DP World Tour, shot multiple birdies to score a 9-under 63 and is leading the scoreboard after the first round.
Fichardt was followed by Swedish golfer Fredrik From, English golfer Sam Bairstow and German golfer Marcel Siem, who lay tied second after the first round with a score of 7-under 65. Fredrik From hit two eagles, one at the third and the other at the tenth, accompanied with several other birdies and scoring a 7-under 65, lay second.

Tied fifth lay a team of 10 golfers with a score of 6-under 66, including Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma, who hit an eagle at the third, accompanied with several other birdies, and other golfers like English Todd Clements, South African Jayden Schaper, Branden Grace, Norris Shaun and Chinese Haotong Li.
The second round of the South African Open Championship 2025 is scheduled to be held on Friday, February 28.
