The 2025 Betfred British Masters, which is being run by Sir Nick Faldo, is happening at The Belfry Hotel & Resort in Sutton Coldfield, England. The Brabazon Course, known for hosting Ryder Cup matches, has once again provided tough conditions and left little room for mistakes.
Round 1
In the first round, local favourite Matt Fitzpatrick made a strong impression, climbing to the top of the leaderboard with his precise iron shots and confident putting. Other players like Alex Noren and Nicolai Højgaard kept close, making it an exciting competition right from the start.
Round 2
On Friday, Fitzpatrick stayed in the lead, but the competition got closer. Marco Penge had a great performance and moved up in the rankings, while seasoned players like Noren and Højgaard kept pushing for better positions at the top. The cut line was set at one-over-par, narrowing down the players for the weekend.
Round 3
By Saturday, Fitzpatrick maintained his lead at 12-under-par, with Noren, Penge, and Højgaard just two shots behind him, setting the stage for an exciting final day. The Belfry once again brought its own excitement, as birdies were hard to achieve and any mistakes were costly for the closely packed group.
Veer Ahlawat’s Progress
Among those moving on to the weekend was Veer Ahlawat from India, who is gaining more confidence on the DP World Tour. After a first round score of 73, he did well with two back-to-back rounds of 71, giving him a total of 215 after three rounds, putting him tied 53rd. Although he isn’t in the running for the title, making it through to the weekend at such a well-known event like the British Masters provides him with valuable experience and helps his chances of having a stable career on tour.
