The second round of the PGA TOUR’s American Express 2026 saw fireworks on the fairways as 19-year-old Blades Brown lit up the leaderboard with a stunning 12-under 60, the lowest round of the tournament so far. His fearless play vaulted him 50 spots into a tie for the lead at -17, alongside world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who posted a steady 64 to stay in control.

Brown’s round was a masterclass in aggressive golf: pinpoint irons, a red-hot putter, and nerves of steel. The amateur phenom, playing on a sponsor’s exemption, carded eight birdies and two eagles, turning heads and raising hopes of a historic weekend run.

Scheffler, meanwhile, continued his trademark consistency. After opening with a 63, he followed up with a bogey-free 64, keeping pace with Brown and setting up a potential showdown heading into moving day.

Just one shot back is Si Woo Kim (-16), who matched Scheffler’s opening round and added a 65 to stay in the hunt. S.H. Kim (-15) and Matt McCarty (-15) remain close behind, while a pack of players at -14 includes Rickie Fowler and Nico Echavarria, both of whom fired impressive 63s to climb 45 places on the leaderboard.

Other notable movers include Wyndham Clark (-14) with a 64 and Nick Taylor (-14) with a pair of 65s. Patrick Cantlay and Ben Griffin slipped slightly after second-round 68s, but remain in contention at -13.
