Indian golfer Rakshit Dahiya displays prowess at the World Amateur Team Championship 2025, which is being held at the Tanah Merah Country Club (Tampines Course), Singapore, from October 8 to October 11, and maintained the best score among the 3-member team sent by India to front the Indian challenge at the world stage.

The 3-member team sent by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the apex body of golf in the country, to compete with the 36 participating nations all over the world, include Deepak Yadav, Rakshit Dahiya and Arin Ahuja.

The second round at Tanah Merah was difficult for team India. Though Dahiya maintained consistency in his performance to shoot a back-to-back level par score of 72 in the second round, his teammates struggled in the second round. At a two-day total of 144, Dahiya, who was twelve strokes behind South Africa golfer Christiaan Maas, leader after the second round was tied 30th in the Individual category.

In the Individual category, Deepak Yadav (73-79) and Arin Ahuja (75-78) struggled and lay tied 90th and 96th on the leaderboard.

Team South Africa rose to the top of the leaderboard after the second round concluded on Thursday, October 9. Currently team India concluded the second round tied 30th among all the 36 participating nations.

The World Amateur Team Championship (WATC), organized by the International Golf Federation (IGF) is a tournament of great repute. Inaugurated at the Old Course in 1958, on behalf of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and R&A by the Friends of American Golf, the USA is the leader of the championship, having won most number of medals for the team tournament. While team US leads with 28 medals (16 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze), Australia and Great Britain & Ireland closely follow with a total number of 14 and 11 medals respectively.

With heavy rain disrupting the second round, and challenges faced by Yadav and Ahuja, competition gets tougher for team India as well as Dahiya, in the third round.
