India’s Diksha Dagar put up a strong fight in the second round of the Ladies Open, securing her place in the final round alongside fellow Indian golfer Pranavi Urs. Diksha’s impressive performance of 4-under 68 came after a challenging first round where she failed to make any birdies and scored 74. However, she made a remarkable comeback in the second round, playing a stunning 5-under on the front nine. Although she encountered two bogeys and only one birdie on the back nine, Diksha’s overall performance was enough to secure her position for the final day.

The remaining four Indian golfers, Tvesa Malik (74-73), Ridhima Dilawari (73-75), Amandeep Drall (73-77), and Seher Atwal (78-72), missed the cut, which was set at even par. Diksha, who recently emerged victorious at the Czech Ladies Open, struggled during the challenging conditions on the first day but showcased her skills on the second day. With the final day approaching, she now has an opportunity to further climb up the leaderboard.

Heading into the final round, Johanna Gustavsson held a one-shot lead after carding a second consecutive impressive round of 66 on the extended second day. Gustavsson, a Swedish golfer, began her first round early on June 30 due to weather disruptions, and she wasted no time in making her mark. She recorded three consecutive birdies on the 5th, 6th, and 7th holes, putting pressure on Carmen Alonso, who was leading at that point. Gustavsson continued her excellent performance by adding two more birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. Despite a brief setback with a bogey on the 13th, she finished strong with two brilliant birdies on the 16th and 18th, taking her overall score to 12-under-par and securing the lead.

Just one shot behind Gustavsson was Carmen Alonso, who displayed exceptional skill by shooting a 69 (-3) despite bogeying the final two holes. Christine Wolf held the solo third position with a score of 69 (-3), placing her at 10-under-par. Linda Osala from Finland occupied the fourth position, sitting at nine-under-par. Meghan MacLaren from England was one shot behind in fifth place.

The cut for the final round was set at even-par, allowing 62 players to progress. As the tournament moves into its final day, golf enthusiasts eagerly await to see who will emerge as the ultimate champion. With Diksha Dagar’s remarkable recovery and the intense competition among the remaining players, the final round promises to be an exhilarating conclusion to the Ladies Open.
