Chinese golfer Wenyi Ding and English golfer Jordan Smith hit a 7-under 63 and emerged as the co-leaders after the first round concluded on March 6.
A group of golfers that included Germany’s Nicolai von Dellingshausen, South Africa’s Malcolm Mitchell, England’s Marco Penge, South Africa’s Jayden Schaper and England’s Callum Tarren lay tied third at a 6-under 64.
Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma lay tied seventeenth with a group of golfers including South African golfers Jaco Ahlers, Hennie Otto, Shaun Norris, and Rhys West, Scottish Connor Syme, Dutch Joost Luiten, Zimbabwean Kieran Vincent, and Australian Danny List, at a score of 4-under 66.
The second round of the Joburg Open 2025 is scheduled to be held on March 7, Friday.
