Between November 2024 and February 2025, Donald Trump played a key role in the ongoing PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger discussions , after talks of a potential merger were there since 2022.

November 2024:

Trump’s Take on the Merger During his pre-election campaign, Trump spoke about the PGA Tour-LIV Golf negotiations, emphasising the need for a unified tour with the best players. While he stated that he focused on other matters, he suggested that finalizing the deal would not take much time if he were involved.

February 2025:

PGA Tour Officials Meet Trump In February 2025, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Player Director Adam Scott met with Trump at the White House to discuss the merger. Tiger Woods also backed the discussions. The PGA Tour acknowledged Trump’s long-standing support for golf and expressed appreciation for his involvement in helping move the negotiations forward.

Although the merger is still under discussion, both tours have continued with their respective seasons, with the PGA Tour starting in January and LIV Golf launching its 2025 season in Riyadh in early February.
