Veteran UNCW women’s golf head coach Cindy Ho has announced the addition of five recruits for the 2022-23 season.
The Seahawks welcome Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, N.C.), Jonna Hubbs (West Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), Victoria Levy (Lausanne, Switzerland), Annika Saidleman (Austin, Texas) and Jordan Salisbury (San Antonio Texas) to the North Carolina coast. Another recruit, freshman Hannah Altman, signed on in the fall.
“Our new Seahawks elevate our depth and along with our returning players, allow us to be more competitive,” said Ho. “All of them are excellent students and golfers, but most importantly, they are outstanding individuals with high character. We have a great combination of freshmen and transfers who I look to raise the bar of our program very quickly. We are extremely excited to welcome them to our Seahawk family.”
Adam moves down to the North Carolina coast after spending her first two years on the roster in Chapel Hill. She was the top-ranked prep player in North Carolina and No. 9 overall by Golfweek out of The O’Neal School in Pinehurst. She played in 15 tournaments for the Tar Heels and was on a pair of ACC Championship and NCAA Regional squads.
“Nicole brings tremendous experience immediately to our team after competing for UNC the past two years and playing against some of the best teams in the country in the ACC,” said Ho. “She was one of the top juniors in the country and one of the best players in our state. She knows how to win. I look for her to make an immediate impact on our team.”
Hubbs joins the Seahawks following an outstanding prep career at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach. She owns one victory, 10 top-10 performances and 18 top-20 finishes on the Florida Junior Tour. Hubbs finished 33rd at the 93rd Florida Women’s Amateur on June 19, advancing to the Round of 32.
“Jonna’s game has improved tremendously this year and she’s working hard to compete right away for a starting position on the traveling team,” said Ho.
Levy was recruited by Ho before the Swiss native chose to attend UFC in Orlando. Levy tied for 29th place with a 73-73-71 card at the Flumserberg Ladies Open, an LET Access Series event in early May. Levy also won The Swiss Golf West Championship on May 29 with rounds of 67-72-70.
“We recruited Victoria previously, so we feel very fortunate to add a highly competitive athlete that we’re familiar with,” said Ho. “Victoria is a 4.00 student and a player with extensive international experience. She has represented her country at the junior and amateur levels.”
Ho rounded out her recruiting with a pair of transfers from Santa Clara. Both Saidleman and Salisbury grew up in Texas, a hotbed for junior golf. Saidleman has posted four top-5 finishes and eight top-10 finishes on the Texas Junior Girls Tour, while Salisbury has posted six top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes on the TJGT.
“Annika and Jordan hail from the strong junior golf state of Texas and join our program after being redshirt freshmen at Santa Clara,” added Ho. “They’ve competed extensively on the Texas Junior Golf and South Texas PGA Tours.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know them throughout the recruiting process. They are outstanding young players with tremendous potential and drive. I look forward to them having a strong summer in preparation for their first year at UNCW.”
