The Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship concluded spectacularly, as Germany’s Freddy Schott (-17) held his nerve to claim victory in a tense playoff battle. Schott, who posted rounds of -7, -5, -2, and -3, outlasted Calum Hill (-17) and Patrick Reed (-17) in an extended playoff, sealing his breakthrough win on the DP World Tour.

Hill (-17), who had led after a stunning second round of -11, fought valiantly but fell just short in the playoff despite his consistency across the week. Reed (-17) surged late with a brilliant -5 in the final round, forcing his way into the playoff and reminding fans of his competitive edge. 

Just behind the leaders, Sergio Garcia (-16) and Daniel Hillier (-16) finished tied for fourth, both producing strong final rounds of -4 and -6, respectively. France’s Ugo Coussaud (-15) impressed with steady scoring, while Nacho Elvira (-14) and Grant Forrest (-14) rounded out the top seven. Andrea Pavan (-13) completed the top nine with another composed performance. 

India’s Shubhankar Sharma (-8), who had been in the mix after the opening rounds, couldn’t mount a late charge but still showcased resilience and consistency. His presence in the field continues to inspire fans back home, and his steady play underlined his growing stature on the international stage. 

With Schott’s victory, the Bahrain Championship delivered drama, resilience, and a thrilling playoff finish, cementing its place as one of the standout events of the early season.
