Calum Hill (-16) delivered a stunning second round 11-under to storm into the lead at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. Backing up his opening -5, the Scotsman now holds a four-shot cushion heading into the weekend.

Germany’s Freddy Schott (-12) remains steady in second place, while France’s Ugo Coussaud (-9) sits alone in third.

The real intrigue lies in the crowded tie for fourth at -8, where eleven players are jostling for position. Among them is India’s Shubhankar Sharma (-8), who followed his opening -6 with a composed -2. Sharma’s consistency has kept him firmly in contention, and his presence adds an exciting dimension for fans back home.

Joining Sharma in the group at -8 are Andrea Pavan (-8), Joost Luiten (-8), Brandon Stone (-8), Sergio Garcia (-8), Julien Guerrier (-8), Nacho Elvira (-8), Alejandro Del Rey (-8), Daniel Hillier (-8), and JC Ritchie (-8).

With Hill setting the pace, the chasing pack led by Sharma and Garcia will look to mount pressure in Round 3. The weekend promises some serious action as Bahrain’s leaderboard tightens and the battle for the title intensifies.
