Two rounds in at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and we already have a statement at the top. Ryo Hisatsune and Akshay Bhatia sit tied for the lead at 15-under par, but they’ve taken very different routes to get there.
Hisatsune set the tournament alight on Thursday with a breathtaking 10-under 62 in Round 1, immediately separating himself from the field. He followed it up with a composed 5-under 67 in Round 2, proving his opening explosion wasn’t a one-day flash. The Japanese star has looked sharp tee-to-green and unshakable on the greens, combining aggression with discipline across two very controlled days.
Bhatia, on the other hand, built his position with momentum. After opening with a strong 7-under 65, he turned up the heat on Friday, firing a brilliant 8-under 64 to surge into a share of the lead. His second round was defined by confident iron play and a putter that refused to cool off.
Just one shot back at 14-under, Sam Burns and Rickie Fowler remain firmly in the chase. Burns followed his electric 9-under 63 opening round with a steady 5-under 67, while Fowler mirrored Bhatia’s pattern — a solid 6-under 66 before accelerating with an 8-under 64 on Friday to climb into contention.
A tightly packed group at 12-under includes Min Woo Lee (65-67), Sepp Straka (66-66), and Jacob Bridgeman (67-65), each showing consistency through two rounds. Jake Knapp and Tom Hoge are also within reach at 11-under, keeping the leaderboard crowded heading into the weekend.
Further down, Xander Schauffele (69-65) and Jordan Spieth (66-70) sit at 10-under, still well within striking distance if Saturday produces another wave of low scoring.
Through 36 holes, Pebble Beach has rewarded fearless shot-making and hot putters. Hisatsune struck first. Bhatia responded. Burns and Fowler are circling. And with so many players within three shots of the lead, the weekend promises far more movement than comfort at the top.
