The Asia-Pacific Senior Championships 2024, that was hosted at the Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong, Vietnam, from October 30, concluded on November 1. Indian senior golfers put up a great display of skills and precision and delivered great performance in the three rounds’ tour.

India’s Gangesh Khaitan from the Men D category secured the first position from his category. Starting off the first round with a 76, Khaitan scored a 79 in the second round, followed by an 82 in the third round, which culminated in an overall score of 237. Gangesh Khaitan also finished at 29th position in the Overall Men category.

Sandeep Singh Sandhu played a great tour. Opening the first round with a two over par, he trailed along in the second round, and shot a 5- over par 77. However, he maintained a consistency in his game and finished the third round with a 77, and with a total of 228, he finished the final round secured 10th position tying with Myanmar’s Ko Ko Aye. In the Overall Men category, Sandhu also secured 16th position.

Jaideep Singh from Men A wrapped up the first round with a 76. Trailing along in the second round with 77, he improved his performance in the third round with a 76. Finishing with a total score of 229, Singh tied at 12th in the Men A and at 18th position in the Overall Men category with Duong Ngoc Duong of Vietnam and Syren Johnstone of Hong Kong, China.

Ending the first round with an 83, Gaurav Ghosh from the Men A category, improved his performance in the second round with a 79. Consistent improvement in strategies and skills led Ghosh to score a 76 in the third round. This culminated in a total score of 238, as Ghosh finished the final round tying at 16th with fellow Indian golfers Hemant Panging (82-80-82) and Ankur Prakash (79-80-79). Together, they ended the final round, securing the 30th position from the Overall Men category.

The Tour was divided into two categories broadly: a. Men Senior and b. Women Senior. These categories were further sub divided into A, B, C and D categories. Over a 100 men and women senior golfers from all over the Asian continent as well as the Pacific region participated in the Tour.

In the Overall Men category, India finished at the fifth position. Australia, Korea and New Zealand secured the first, second and the third positions respectively.

Heo Ji Baek of Korea (70-70-69) finished securing the first position from the Men A and the Overall men category with a 7- under par, followed by Peter Bennett and Ken Brewer of Australia, who secured the second and the third positions respectively with an overall of one under 215 and an even par of 216 respectively.
