Delhi’s Kartik Singh fired an outstanding 7-under 63 to take a lead at 11-under 199 in round three of the IGU West Bengal Junior Boys Championship, being held at the Tollygunge Club, Kolkata, from November 19 to November 22.
Kartik Singh (69-67-63) from A&B Boys Combined category put up a flawless round to rise to the top of the leaderboard creating a course record on the third round. He continues as the lead score holder in succession for three rounds from Category B Boys.
Reflecting on his performance, Kartik Singh said, “My game was good today. My driver was quite good today. The competition was a tough one as always, as IGU always provides top-notch competitors across the country. The last time I played in Tolly Club was in 2022. Now that I am here again, I see that the course has become all the more challenging”.
The participants from Category C Boys played the second round today, with Haryana’s Aditya Misra (77-75), posting the lead score of 152.
Chandigarh’s Krish Chawla (66-68-67), the overnight leader of the two rounds from A&B Boys Combined category, ended the penultimate round in second place at 9-under 201.
Punjab’s Danish Verma (75-68-71) carded a total of 214 in the third round and was placed second in B Boys for three days in succession.
West Bengal’s Anshul Mishra (70-67-67) posted a total of 6-under 204, and was placed at the third position from A&B Boys Combined category. Mishra was placed best among the West Bengal based golfers.
West Bengal’s Aranyak Chakraborty (80-74) from C Boys exhibited promising performance on the second round by scoring a total of 154 which placed him at the second leading position from his category.
Punjab’s Sohraab Singh Talwar (80-77) from C Boys was placed third with a total of 157.
Other notable performances of the day included Delhi’s Ranveer Mitroo (70-69-70), Haryana’s Harman Sachdeva (73-68-69) and Karnataka’s Angad Singh (71-71-69), who were placed at the fourth, fifth and sixth leading positions respectively from A&B Boys Combined category.
West Bengal’s Ribhav Verma (71-70-74) was placed at the eleventh position with a total of 215.
With the final round of IGU West Bengal Junior Boys Championship scheduled for tomorrow, anticipation builds as the golfers prepare to battle for the championship.
“Hopefully, I can shoot one more good round tomorrow. I want to make good shots and hit birdies tomorrow. I am trying to work on my putting skills a bit more so that I can enjoy playing the final round at this amazing course”.
