Chandigarh’s Krish Chawla continued as the leader for the second day in succession at the IGU West Bengal Junior Boys Golf Championship, which is being played at Tollygunge Club, Kolkata from November 19 to November 22.
Chawla posted continued in the lead at the halfway stage with a total of 6-under 134, after he carded a score of 2-under 68 in round two from his category A&B Combined Boys.
Delhi’s Kartik Singh from B Boys too continued as the lead score holder in succession for two rounds. Singh carded a score of 3-under 67 in the second round, and at the end of the second round bagged a total of 4-under 136. This also led him to be placed at the second position from A&B Boys Combined category.
Rajveer Surri from C Boys posted a 75 on the first round on November 20.
Chawla said, “I think the strategy that is working for me is the tee shots. All tee shots are going straight, and that is helping me to hit more regulations”.
Delhi’s Kartik Singh (69-67) posted a 4-under 136 to secure the second leading position from A&B Boys Combined category.
West Bengal’s Anshul Mishra (70-67) posted the lead score of the day, a 3-under 67, and was placed at the third position with a total score of 137.
Punjab’s Danish Verma (75-68) carded a total of 143 in the second round and was placed second in B Boys.
Delhi’s Smyaan Gupta (72-73) scored 145 after the second round, and secured the third lead.
West Bengal’s Vedant Paul and Haryana’s Aditya Misra were placed at the second and third leading positions from C Boys with 76 and 77 respectively.

Delhi’s Ranveer Mitroo (70-69), maintaining consistent play.
Ribhav Verma (71-70) showcased his skills to stay in contention.
Players like Varish Mohta, Rayan Sao, Arghya Shah, Aranyak Chakraborty and Aryaveer Agrawal also exhibited promising performances.
Chawla, reflecting on his play, attributed his success to precise tee shots, stating, “All tee shots are going straight, helping me hit more greens in regulation.” He aims to sustain his consistency in the remaining rounds. Similarly, Singh expressed optimism, aiming for strong performances in the final two rounds to secure a favorable finish.
The tournament promises a thrilling conclusion as the competition intensifies over the next two days.
Chawla said, “I dropped two shots today at the 18th, before which I was 4-under at the 17th. I will have to play straight in the next two rounds, and maintain my momentum and consistency to keep my scores under par”.
Kartik Singh said, “My hits were quite good today. The good condition of the course at Tolly Club has helped me a lot during the two rounds. IGU is known for providing the players with top-notch competitors, which is another exciting part of the game. Hopefully, I an play two more good rounds, and get a good position by the weekend”.
