Rory McIlroy shot to the forefront of the leaderboard with a scorching six-under-par 66 during the third round of the 2025 Masters Tournament, going to 12-under for the tournament and establishing a two-stroke advantage going into Sunday.

McIlroy’s round was punctuated by an incredible beginning, featuring several birdies and two eagles through the first six holes. The effort brings him within reach of achieving the career Grand Slam as a winner on Sunday.

Bryson DeChambeau is two shots behind after a solid 69, standing at 10-under. Third is occupied by Canada’s Corey Conners at eight-under, and former leader Justin Rose plunged to a tie for sixth after a 75.

Veteran Zach Johnson was impressive in coming in with a six-under 66, his lowest Augusta round, and rising into the top ten.

A thrilling conclusion in the final round is in store with McIlroy set to rewrite history and more challengers in a few strides.
