Round 2 of the 2026 Dubai Invitational saw a dramatic shift atop the leaderboard as Spain’s Nacho Elvira and Ireland’s Shane Lowry surged into joint first place at five-under-par. Both players carded three-under rounds on Friday, showing poise and precision on the course. Elvira’s round was highlighted by a string of birdies on the front nine, while Lowry relied on his short game to navigate tricky pin placements and maintain momentum. Their steady play has positioned them as co-leaders heading into the weekend, with the field tightly packed behind them.

Rory McIlroy, who led after Round 1, struggled to find rhythm in his second round, posting a three-over-par that dropped him into a tie for fifth at two-under. Despite a few birdie chances, McIlroy couldn’t capitalize and found himself battling the greens and windier conditions. Meanwhile, Marcus Armitage and David Puig sit tied for third at three-under, with Armitage grinding out a one-under round and Puig slipping slightly with a one-over. The leaderboard remains fluid, with Antoine Rozner, Angel Ayora, and Thriston Lawrence joining McIlroy in the group at two-under, all within striking distance of the leaders.

Further down, Dylan Frittelli, Daniel Hillier, Marcel Siem, Grant Forrest, and Connor Syme are tied at one-under, keeping themselves in contention with solid rounds. Siem’s two-under effort was one of the day’s cleanest cards, while Syme and Puig will look to rebound after losing ground. With two rounds remaining and the top ten separated by just four shots, the Dubai Invitational promises a thrilling weekend of competitive golf.
