The Annual General Meeting and elections of Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (MGPS)
was held on 21st July 2023 at 3 PM at Hotel Polo Towers, Shillong. 2 officers each from
armed forces i.e. Assam Rifles, 58 GTC and Umroi Environment Park and training area apart
from local Golfers attended the AGM .
The Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (MGPS) is the State Golf Association for the state
of Meghalaya affiliated with the Indian Golf Union and Meghalaya State Olympic
Association and registered with the Registrar of Societies.
They have taken keen interest to promote and develop the game of Golf in the state of
Meghalaya and have also conducted various National and International events in the past
few years in the state of Meghalaya which has promoted the tourism of the state and
brought Meghalaya in the national Golf Map.
They are one of the few State Golf Associations of the country that are fully compliant with
the National Sports Development Code (NSDC) as per Govt of India/Indian Olympic
Association/Indian Golf Union guidelines.
As per the guidelines set up Indian Golf Union, MGPS enjoys the support of the majority of
the Indian Golf Union’s Affiliated Golf Club of the State of Meghalaya and the authorised
recognised and official State Golf Association of Meghalaya.
Mr Finely Pariat, General Secretary, Meghalaya State Olympic Association was the Observer for the
Annual General Meeting and elections. The returning officers were Advocates Mr Ritre Oo Lyngdoh
and Mr Kyntu I Laloo who conducted the elections as per the procedure laid down by the National
Sports Development Code.
Mr AL Hek, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Meghalaya and Chief Advisor of MGPS mentioned
about the prospects of Golf Tourism in the State. As part of the Future plans and as per directives
of Hon’ble Union Sports Minister, Shri Anurag Thakur, MGPS is committed for the promotion of
the underprivileged kids in the game of Golf. Mr Rocky Hek, member of Dorbar Shnong Golf Links
has committed full support to work for the growth and promotion of Golf in the State.
