Patrick Reed (-9) vaulted into the lead after Round 2 of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic with a sizzling six-under 66, building on his opening 69 to take command at Emirates Golf Club. The American’s aggressive approach paid off, as he drained clutch birdie putts and navigated the Majlis greens with precision.

Francesco Molinari (-8) slipped one shot behind after a 1-under 72, unable to replicate his Round 1 brilliance. The Italian remains in strong contention, thanks to his early momentum and steady ball-striking.

Andy Sullivan (-8) matched the low round of the day with a superb 65, climbing the leaderboard with a flurry of birdies on the back nine. The Englishman’s round was a masterclass in recovery and rhythm, vaulting him into a share of second.

A trio of Spaniards and Italians sit tied for fourth at seven-under, including Jorge Campillo (-7), David Puig (-7), and Andrea Pavan (-7). Campillo’s six-under through 17 holes was one of the day’s standout performances, while Puig and Pavan both carded 68s to stay in the hunt.

Julien Guerrier (-6) and Martin Couvra (-6) made big moves with rounds of 72, while Tyrrell Hatton (-6) and Oliver Lindell (-6) posted matching 69s to round out the top ten. Hatton’s steady play and Lindell’s consistency kept them within striking distance heading into the weekend.

With the cut looming and the leaderboard tightly packed, the second round delivered a mix of fireworks and finesse. Reed’s surge, Sullivan’s climb, and Molinari’s resilience have set up a thrilling weekend showdown in Dubai.
