PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan has made a comeback after being on medical leave, and he shared some important updates with the players in a memo. This comes after a big agreement with the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
In the memo, Monahan talked about ongoing negotiations with the PIF. They discussed a “Player Benefit Program” that aims to financially support players who choose to stay with the PGA Tour instead of going elsewhere. Last year, some players were offered very large sums of money by a golf organization called LIV Golf, which is backed by the PIF, but they decided to stick with the PGA Tour. Now, the Tour wants to reward those players for their loyalty.
The details of this program are not yet finalized, but it’s said to be a significant amount of money in addition to the regular compensation players receive. The Tour is working on the specifics to make sure it benefits all members.
