Shaurya Binu of Karnataka finished first in round one of the IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship 2022 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, shooting 7 under 65.
Binu was followed by Vinamra Anand of Uttar Pradesh, who scored one under 71. The IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship 2022 is the world’s second-oldest golf tournament, and it is a significant golf event in the history of the game. This year’s competition has 72 of India’s greatest amateur golfers battling for pride. The British established the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) in the ‘City of Joy’ in 1829, laying the groundwork for Indian golf. It has the distinction of being the oldest golf course outside of the British Isles.
