Shubhankar Sharma, playing in his third Open Championship in a week as he celebrates his 27th birthday, got off to a perfect start at the 151st Open. He put together a solid round of 3 under 68, placing him tied for 7th at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Even though Shubhankar missed birdie chances on the first and second holes, he managed to make birdies on the fourth and fifth holes. He almost made an eagle on the fifth hole but ended up with a birdie, which was still excellent.

A young amateur golfer named Christo Lamprecht from South Africa, who is 22 years old and very tall at 6 feet 8 inches, also did really well. He shot a fantastic score of 5-under 66 and is currently in the lead along with Tommy Fleetwood, who is 32 years old and was born in Southport.

Christo had seven birdies but also had two bogeys. Tommy, on the other hand, had six birdies and just one bogey.

There are some other good players like the 2009 Open champion Stewart Cink, who is now 50 years old and playing in the Champions Tour. He and the 2023 US Open winner, Wyndham Clarke, both shot 68 and are tied for the fourth spot along with four other players.

Antoine Rozner from France is also doing well and holds the third position with a score of 67. He is trying hard to secure a place in the European Team for the Ryder Cup.

The competition is tough, and many players are still completing their rounds. It will be exciting to see how the tournament unfolds as it goes on.”
