The 124th edition of the IGU Amateur Golf Championship of India world’s longest-running match play championship, first played in Calcutta at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club. Now the championship is played on the best golf courses in India.
This year, the tournament is set to unfold at the prestigious Tollygunge Club from 15th to 21st December 2025.

This year’s championship begins with individual stroke play, followed by the second-round match play for 32 players who made the cut, leading into the highly anticipated match play stages.

– Thursday: 16 matches
– Friday: Pre-quarterfinals (8 matches) and quarterfinals (4 matches)
– Saturday: Semi-finals (2 matches)
– Sunday: The grand finale – 36 holes, one match to crown the champion

Among the star-studded field are defending champion Anshul Mishra, alongside top-ranked players Kanav Chauhan, Deepak Yadav, Chaitanya Pandey and Sukhman Singh. The tournament also welcomes the top five juniors, adding fresh talent to the mix. Rarely has a player triumphed in both stroke play and match play, with current pro Aryan Roopa Anand being one of the few to achieve this distinction.

Tournament Director Paramjit Singh remarked, “Matchplay golf is very unpredictable; whoever makes the cut is a favourite, because they are all players of exceptional quality. With the top five juniors also in the field, the competition is wide open. We have high hopes from Anshul and Kanav, and players like Pritish , Sukhman, Chaitanya Pandey and Ribhav will also be ones to watch.”

This year, the IGU Amateur Golf Championship of India promises thrilling competition, as the finest golfers from all over India battle for glory in one of India’s most historic championships.
