Kolkata, August 29, 2025 – The Tollygunge Club is ready to hold the second edition of the Captain vs Presidents’ Cup on August 30th and 31st, 2025, with more than 130 golfers competing over two days of exciting golfing.
Deep Banerjee, Former Captain and Winner of the first season of the Captain Vs. Presidents’ Cup 2023, said, “Tolly boasts a large fraternity of golfers, with players as young as 12 and as seasoned as 90. The spectrum of skill levels is just as wide. Our vision was to create a tournament where every golfer—irrespective of age or ability—could come together over a weekend to play, enjoy, and celebrate the spirit of the game”.
The idea of the prestigious tournament is simple: to have fun, yet still compete for top honours.
Banerjee continues, “This platform not only brings everyone together but also offers the excitement of competing under the banners of teams, across both individual Stableford and match play formats. At its heart, this tournament is about closing the golfing season on a high note—blending camaraderie and competition under one banner”.
The first day will use Stableford Format, and the second day will have Match Play, allowing for both personal skill and teamwork to shine.
There are four teams that will be playing:
Captain’s Woods Warriors
President’s Palmer Pioneers
Vice President’s Snead Strikers
Vice Captain’s Nicklaus Knights.
In the first edition of the Captain Vs. Presidents’ Cup 2023, team Captains Wood Warriors won, followed by Presidents’ Palmer, who finished second.
When asked about the level of excitement, competition and camaraderie at stake for the second edition of the Captain Vs. Presidents’ Cup 2025, Deep Banerjee said, “The excitement around the tournament is palpable. Team WhatsApp groups are abuzz with chatter as anchors and team principals guide their squads, while the organising committee—led by the Golf Captain himself—is busy with last-minute preparations. Participants are eager to don their tournament T-shirts and give their best to secure top honours for their teams. Some golfers have even put in extra practice sessions through the week to fine-tune their game, adding to the anticipation of a competitive yet fun-filled weekend.”
Harmander Singh Bindra, Golf Captain, Tollygunge Club, says, “We are truly excited to be hosting a tournament of this scale exclusively for our members, in a fun and competitive team format. With participants spanning such a wide range of ages and both genders, it is not just a challenge but also a privilege. The enthusiasm across the club has been remarkable. Our committee is committed to making this a memorable weekend of camaraderie and competition. We look forward to closing the golfing season with a celebration of both friendship and the true spirit of the game.
Bindra also added, “A special mention goes to the Tollygunge Club administration for their wholehearted support, to Protouch for their assistance with the tournament, and to our tournament committee and team anchors for their tireless efforts in making this event possible on such a grand scale”.
Bindra extended a heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, BTL EPC Ltd., Centuryply and Jayshree Tea for their invaluable support.
