The AVT Champions Tour Kolkata Edition 2025, held at the prestigious Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), delivered an extraordinary display of golfing skill, strategy, and camaraderie. In the fiercely contested Team Nett category, the Kolkata team comprising Ashit Luthra, Laxman Singh, Jaydeep Chitlangia, and Manish Periwal triumphed with an impressive score of 426, narrowly edging out the runners-up team of Sandeep Chaudhury, Nitin Sahjwala, and Neetu Agarwal, who posted a score of 429. Meanwhile, the Team Gross title was secured on countback by the Bangalore team of David D’Souza, Suhas Kulkarni, Paromita Mukherjee, and Jehangir Tankariwala, with a score of 465, ahead of the equally commendable performance of Ganesh Khaitan, Lokesh Malhotra, Ashish Kapoor, and Pushpendra Rathore, who also scored 465.
The Ladies’ Division added elegance and competitiveness to the event. Paromita Mukherjee delivered a stellar performance, claiming the title with a score of 158, while Neetu Agarwal, with a commendable 169, finished as the runner-up.
In the Individual Nett competition, thrilling encounters unfolded across handicap categories. In the 0-9 handicap division, Raul Rai emerged victorious with a score of 145, while in the 10-18 handicap category, Sandeep Chaudhury dominated with an exceptional 140.
The Individual Gross competition celebrated excellence across five age divisions. Standout performances included Suhas Kulkarni (162) in Category A (50-54 years), Manav Prakash (153) in Category B (55-59 years), Pushpendra Singh Rathore (154) in Category C (60-64 years), Pramod Kurian (166) in Category D (65-69 years), and Gangesh Khaitan (161) in Category E (70-74 years). Each division highlighted the participants’ skill, determination, and mastery of the sport.
The tournament concluded with the crowning of the AVT Champion Tour Overall winner. David D’Souza delivered an exceptional performance, finishing with a score of 147 to claim the prestigious title, while Ashish Kapoor secured the runner-up position with a score of 150. Remarkably, in the previous edition of the AVT Tour, David D’Souza had disqualified himself for signing an incorrect scorecard, demonstrating tremendous sportsmanship and integrity—qualities that make his victory this year even more special. Reflecting on his win, David D’Souza said, “The golf courses are in pristine condition, and the greens are rolling extremely well and true.”
RCGC Captain, Mr. Gourav Ghosh, expressed his delight at hosting the event: “It is always a pleasure to host a tournament like this, where all the golfers who have contributed a lot to this game get together and have a great time.”
The event concluded with a grand awards ceremony and a celebratory gala dinner, where participants and attendees gathered to honor the achievements of the players. The AVT Tour 2025 not only celebrated golfing excellence but also reinforced RCGC’s status as a cornerstone of Indian golf, offering a platform for players to shine and for the sport’s legacy to flourish.
