As the breeze came in from the coast of Aberdeenshire, the 2025 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship turned into an exciting series of ups and downs during the second and third rounds. What started as Andrew Marshall’s game to lead took a surprising twist on Saturday, with Bo Van Pelt making his way to the front with a steady and skillful performance.

Marshall began the third round at 2-under-par, having a slight lead after two solid days of playing hard. He scored a 69 in Round 2 thanks to strong shots with his irons and great putting, which helped him take advantage of a few opportunities to score. However, Round 3 was quite different. He ended with a score of 75, losing important points, especially on the last two holes, dropping back to 1-under overall and tying for second.

Taking advantage of the situation was Bo Van Pelt, who played a clean round of 68 on Saturday—the best score of the day. He played confidently at Trump International, steering clear of trouble off the tee and hitting the greens accurately. Now at 2-under for the tournament, Van Pelt is leading by one stroke as they head into the final round on Sunday.

Also making a move was Darren Fichardt, who also shot a 68, putting him in second place at 1-under-par. His round included four birdies and no bogeys, showing that skill and patience are essential on these tough links.

Simon Khan, sitting with Marshall at 1-under, played a solid round of 69, quietly putting himself in the running for the title. If he performs well on Sunday, he could jump ahead if others stumble.

Just two strokes behind are Peter Baker, Damian Mooney, and Maarten Lafeber, all tied at even-par. With the weather improving a bit, they are still in a good position if the leaders make mistakes.

At the same time, Michael Jonzon, who was in the lead after Round 1, bounced back with a steady third round after facing a terrible hole on the 9th during Friday’s play. He is now at +5, pretty much out of the race but still showing his skills with a calm performance.

With just one stroke between the top three and a close group chasing them, the scene is set for a thrilling finish. Trump International has been tough on even the smallest mistakes, but for those who can handle the wind and navigate the course, victory is very attainable.
