Nandan, at only 13, has made a name for himself in Indian golf by winning two gold medals at the Special Olympics National Trials. This achievement highlights not just his skills but also his strong determination.
The competition gathered 40 of the best young athletes in the country, with 27 players in Nandan’s category from nine different states. In such a tough environment, Nandan remained calm and played incredibly well for his age.

He won gold medals not just once, but twice:
Gold medal in the Sub-Junior Level 1 category, which is the Individual Skills Competition
Gold medal in the Sub-Junior and Junior Level 4/5 category, which is the Individual Stroke Play Competition (9- holes) and the Individual Stroke Play Competition (18- holes).
“This amazing success feels like a dream for us and is a big step in his journey,” his mother proudly remarked.
For Nandan, who is managing school, practice, and international competitions, this moment means more than just winning medals; it proves that he is ready for major challenges. Claiming victories in two different levels of the Division 1 contest is a big accomplishment; it sends a strong message.

More Than Just a Win
Winning at the Special Olympics Nationals is a big deal for any young athlete, but for Nandan, it signifies a path towards even bigger aspirations. From representing India at the PING Scottish Open for People with Disabilities earlier this year to excelling at the National Trials, his progress is speeding up impressively.
Golf has opened doors for Nandan, but he is also giving something special back to the sport: hope. Hope that kids facing challenges can overcome obstacles, compete, and shine at the highest level.
The Road Ahead
With two gold medals now hanging around his neck, Nandan is dreaming bigger than ever. He envisions himself competing at the Special Olympics World Games, participating in EDGA and G4D events, and ultimately making his way to the Special Olympics Summer Games. These aspirations ignite a fire within him, driving him to pursue his passion and chase his dreams.
For now, his double gold finish solidifies his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in Indian golf. Nandan isn’t just participating; he’s winning, and he’s doing it impressively.
