Team India struggles to make way into the final round of the World Amateur Team Championship (WATC), which is being held at the Tanah Merah Golf Club (Tampines Course), Singapore, from October 8 to October 11.
The 3-member team sent by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the apex body of golf in the country, to compete with the 36 participating nations all over the world, include Deepak Yadav, Rakshit Dahiya and Arin Ahuja.
Team India’s struggle continued in the third round as the team trailed behind. Rakshit Dahiya (72-72-76), who has been leading the 3-member Indian team over two consecutive rounds, had a difficult round, in which he shot a 76, and at a three-day score of 4-over 220, lay tied forty-five in the Individual category.
In the Individual category, Deepak Yadav (73-79-74) lay tied ninety-five, and Arin Ahuja (75-78-83) had lay at 104, and had difficult third rounds.
Team India finished the third round at a total score of 445, and lay at 33.
Meanwhile, team South Africa (139-135-132) leads the team scores on the leaderboard, followed by team Australia (141-138-138) and team England (142-137-141), who lay second and third respectively.
Overnight leader South African golfer Christiaan Maas (66-66-65) played a better third round and maintained his lead on the leaderboard of the Individual category at a three-day score of 19-under 197, followed by Australian golfer Declan O’ Donovan (70-69-68), who lay second at a three-day score of 9-under 207.
