The AVT Champions Tour, India’s premier competitive platform for senior amateur golfers, returns to the prestigious Tollygunge Club, Calcutta, after a long while for the third event of the 2025-26 season. This season began with the AVT Champions Tour at KGA in June 2025. The upcoming event will take place from January 28 to 29, 2026, and has attracted over 100 players. It promises two days filled with spirited competition, camaraderie, and a celebration of golfing excellence. The Calcutta leg of the tournament promises quality golf and intense competition, featuring top players such as Gaurav Ghosh, Sandeep Sandhu, Jehangir Tankariwala and defending champion David D’Souza. With the introduction of a new merit list system across various categories this season, players are eager to secure top positions as the season approaches its final two events.
This season marks the 100th anniversary of the A.V. Thomas group, which was established in 1925, making this season particularly special for The AVT Champions Tour. The AVT Champions Tour continues its legacy of honouring champions aged 50 and above. The Calcutta leg will be played over 36 holes in an individual stroke play format across two tournament rounds.
The rounds will have Individual Gross categories divided by age group:
a. 50-54 years
b. 55-59 years
c. 60-64 years
d. 65-69 years
e. 70+ years
f. Ladies category.
The Individual NETT categories will be split according to the handicap indexes.
