The opening round of the Hainan Classic 2026 at the Blackstone Course produced a flurry of low scores, with Jordan Gumberg (-8) of the USA setting the pace. His composed round of 64 gave him a one-shot lead heading into Day 2.

Spain’s Jorge Campillo (-7) followed closely with a strong 65, keeping himself firmly in contention. A group of five players sit tied at -6, including Thriston Lawrence (-6) of South Africa, Wu Yize Ding (-6) of China, Jason Scrivener (-6) of Australia, Dylan Frittelli (-6) of South Africa, and Aaron Cockerill (-6) of Canada.

France’s Martin Couvra (-5) and South Korea’s Taehoon Ok (-5) are just behind, while a large cluster at -4 includes Oliver Lindell, Zihao Jin, Calum Hill, Yahui Zhou, Joost Luiten, Daniel Rodrigues, Rafael R. Taylor, Lloyd Go, Adrian Otaegui, and Adri Arnaus.
