The opening round of the BMW International Open 2026 at Golfclub München Eichenried saw a strong South African presence at the top of the leaderboard. Jayden Schaper (-8) and Hennie Du Plessis (-8) both fired superb rounds to share the lead, setting the pace early in Munich.
Just one shot back, JC Ritchie (-7) kept himself firmly in contention, making it a dominant showing for South Africa on Day 1.
England’s Ross Fisher (-6) and Paul Waring (-6) are tied for fourth, while a group of international challengers sit at -5, including France’s Romain Langasque (-5) and J.W. Ko (-5), Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino (-5), and Spain’s Nacho Elvira (-5).
