New Delhi, August 21, 2026: Arjun Prasad, by nature, is quiet and soft-spoken and prefers to listen more than he talks. Yet, he can be very engaging once he gets to know others. That is precisely what brings him to the AM Green IGPL, where he will make his debut next month. And he will join his close friends, like Aman Raj, Pukhraj Singh Gill, and Karandeep Kochhar, on the next exciting journey in pro golf.

After almost nine years spent playing on the professional golf circuit, Arjun Prasad turned professional in 2017 at the age of just 17. He picked up his first professional title at the Tamil Nadu Open in Coimbatore in October 2025. The 25-year-old golfer may have taken some time to bloom, but the promise was always there, as reflected in a stellar amateur career. Overall, Arjun Prasad’s journey in professional golf has been one of promise, persistence and, eventually, a breakthrough.

Prasad, who was born in 1999, started playing golf at eight and was one of India’s leading young talents. In 2016, the Indian golfer won the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in China, becoming only the third Indian after Rashid Khan and Abhijit Singh Chadha to achieve the feat. The same year, Prasad also represented India at the Eisenhower Trophy and won the Best Amateur award at the Indian Open.

A year later, Arjun Prasad transitioned to professional golf at 17. The same year, at the 2017 Asian Tour Qualifying School, Prasad earned an Asian Tour card, making him the youngest player to secure one that season and earning a card in India.

The early years felt like a learning process, and Prasad found that he needed to adjust his attacking instincts after becoming a pro and to show greater patience and strategy. It began to show.

In 2018, Arjun Prasad produced five top-10 finishes, including a joint runner-up finish at the Pune Open and third place at the QA Infotech Open. A tied-11th finish at the 2019 Panasonic Open India was a great indication of his potential.

The Top-10s, including numerous runner-up finishes and third places, kept pouring in, but the breakthrough finally came in 2025 at the Tamil Nadu Open. The win confirmed Prasad’s potential and talent, and it was the strongest season of his career. Apart from the title, two runner-up finishes and nine other top-10s helped him finish fourth on the Order of Merit.

The 2026 season has brought mixed results, but the game was coming around. And then IGPL happened. The Indian golfer was handed the IGPL cap by CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, as he was welcomed into the IGPL family.

After coming into the new and exciting Tour, Prasad said, “There are a lot of things that IGPL is doing that make a lot of sense to me. I genuinely believe they have a great vision and some good plans for growing golf, both professionally and at the grassroots level. I have spoken to a lot of players on IGPL, and one thing that is clear is that the Tour takes care of all its players, which is great, and we don’t see that often. The partnership with the Asian Tour is something that is nice. It gives us something to play towards and get on the Asian Tour. And from there we can go forward and get onto higher Tours. That’s a great opportunity for all of us.”

A close friend of Aman Raj, who won twice in 2025 in the inaugural season of IGPL, Prasad is also excited about the team format. “They also have a team format that is something which we don’t see that often in professional golf. And I think that camaraderie makes golf fun and the team spirit between players is something that I’m quite interested and excited about, because otherwise golf is such an individualistic sport.”

Having decided to focus totally on golf and doing everything he could to make himself better, Prasad left the comfort of his parents’ home and moved to neighbouring Gurugram to be able to practice in a focused way with his friends and colleagues. “It saved me a lot of time,” he laughed and said.

On his growth in the game, he went on, “Personally, I had a great season last year and got my first pro win, which was special. That has motivated me a lot and is driving me to improve the game and get better at it. Even this season has been pretty good. I’ve had some good finishes.” He also played a few events on the Hotel Planner Tour in Europe.

“I also feel that the IGPL has some great players on the Tour, who have done amazingly well across the globe and playing with them, competing against them and learning from them will definitely help me get better.”

What next? “We have just got to know the schedule of the second half of IGPL. It looks great. There are four weeks in a row, and we start off at the end of September and I’m really looking forward to it,” says Prasad.
A few good results are all he needs, and his career will be ready to take off for the next stage.
