A brilliant second-round charge helped Matt Fitzpatrick (-13) move to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the FedEx Open de France.

The Englishman built on his solid opening round with a flawless 64 to edge ahead of the field at Le Golf National. His consistency from tee to green allowed him to pull one shot clear as the tournament moved into the weekend.

Hot on his heels is Jeff Winther (-12), who matched the low round of the day to stay firmly in contention. The Dane continued his impressive run and remains within striking distance heading into Moving Day.

American Michael Kim (-11) sits alone in third. After leading following the opening round, Kim maintained his position near the summit with another steady display and remains very much in the title hunt.

French hopes were boosted by Tom Vaillant (-10), who climbed into a share of fourth place alongside Ryan Gerard (-10). Both players produced excellent rounds to position themselves among the leading contenders with two rounds remaining.

Just behind them, Marcel Siem (-9), Angel Hidalgo (-9), Thriston Lawrence (-9) and Gregorio De Leo (-9) continue to lurk within striking distance. With Le Golf National capable of producing dramatic swings, all four will fancy their chances of making a weekend charge.

One of the noteworthy stories of the tournament so far has been the performance of Yuvraj Sandhu (-7). The Indian continued his strong run with another under-par round, comfortably securing a place for the weekend while moving into contention for a high finish.
