Scotland’s Grant Forrest (-14) claimed the Open de España 2026 title after a nervy final round at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. Starting the day with the lead, Forrest closed with a one-under-par round to finish a shot clear of the field and secure one of the biggest victories of his career.
The strongest challenge came from Spain’s Eugenio López-Chacarra (-13), who thrilled the home galleries with a closing 65 (-5). His late charge brought him within touching distance of the lead, but he ultimately finished tied for second alongside France’s Victor Perez (-13).
Denmark’s Joachim B. Olesen (-12) finished fourth after a level-par final round, staying in contention throughout the week but unable to mount a final-day push.
The biggest mover on Sunday was England’s Daniel Brown (-11). Starting outside the leading group, Brown fired a brilliant 64 (-7), the lowest round among the leading contenders, to climb into a share of fifth place alongside compatriot Joe Dean (-11).
A four-way tie for seventh at -10 included Finland’s Oliver Lindell (-10), Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg (-10), Switzerland’s Joel Girrbach (-10) and Spain’s Adrián Otaegui (-10). While Lindell, Åberg and Otaegui all finished strongly, Girrbach slipped back after a difficult closing round.
