Khalin Joshi and SSP Chawrasia finished 1-2 in the men’s trial, while Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth were the top-two finishers in the women’s section at Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Thursday. Golfers from Bengaluru dominated the three-day selection trials for the 2023 Asian Games, which were held in Kolkata by the Indian Golf Union (IGU). Three ‘Garden City’ golfers have qualified for the continental sporting extravaganza. Khalin Joshi led the three-round tally with 67, 68, 68, finishing two strokes ahead of four-time European Tour winner SSP Chawrasia, who shot 11-under 205 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club in Kolkata.The two will join India’s two highest-ranked pros, Anirban Lahiri (95) and Shubhankar Sharma (227), in the national squad for the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will take place in China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. Due to the Covid-19 surge in China last year, the 2022 Asiad was postponed by a year.
