Sir Nick Faldo, former English professional golfer hosted the Betfred British Masters DP World Tour 2024, at The Belfry Golf Resort, Sutton Coldfield, England. Over a hundred and fifty golfers from all over Europe participated in the reputed Tour that commenced on August 29. As the four rounds wrapped up on September 1, Danish golfer Niklas Nørgaard clinched triumph with a total of 16 under par.
Nørgaard was followed by South African golfer, Thriston Lawrence, and Danish professional golfer, Rasmus Højgaard, who clinched the second and the third positions, with total scores of 14 and 12 under par respectively.
Indian Professional golfer, Shubhankar Sharma, who has been a two time winner of the DP World Tour in the past, tied for the 18th position with professional English golfers like Tyrell Hatton, Matthew Baldwin and Andrew Johnston, and professional Dutch golfer, Joost Luiten, with a total of 4 under par at the end of the final rounds.
With three birdies at 2, 5 and 8, Sharma ended the first round, resulting in one under par. On the second round, he achieved a par score with birdies at 5, 8 and 13 respectively. Though Sharma managed to score an eagle at 3 and then many birdies at 5, 10, 13, 15 and 17 respectively, he finished the penultimate round with one over par.
Sharma’s final round was marked with six birdies. He started off from the first with a birdie, followed by consecutive birdies at 3, 4 and 5, and then again at 9 and 10 and finally at 13. He managed to score a 284, and ended.
Though Sharma played consistently and displayed the best of his skills, he feels that the situations were toughly contested and he had to perform under a lot of pressure. He looks forward to using this experience to strive for a perfect score in the upcoming tours.
