The IGU Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship 2024 was conducted at the East Point Golf Club, Visakhapatnam from October 15. Over 70 amateur golfers took part in the prestigious tournament and teed off with great spirit from the first round.

Although the IGU Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship was supposed to conclude on October 18, the Championship could not be conducted after the first round due to adverse weather conditions. The rest of the three rounds had to be called off owing to heavy downpour followed by thunder and lightning. Thus, the winners were declared on the basis of the scores that the players acquired after the completion of the first round.

Delhi’s Rakshit Dahiya secured win in the IGU Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship. After playing the first round, Rakshit scored multiple birdies and scored three under 72 to secure the win.

In close pursuit of Rakshit Dahiya was Telangana’s Vishesh Sharma who scored a two under 72 and secured the second position. Chandigarh’s Shaurya Sharma scored a two under 72 as well, but played a difficult game in the latter nine holes on the first round and secured the third position.

Reputed amateur golfers from West Bengal, such as Sandeep Yadav (74), Samridh Sen (76), Uzair Firdausi (78), Aryav Shah (78), Joysurjo Dey (81) and Jashan B. Shah (84) were also a part of this tournament, and played great golf in the first round itself.
