The Indian golfers, who contested in the Asian Tour Black Mountain Championship, played an exceptional game throughout the three rounds of the Championship that was hosted in the Black Mountain Golf Club, located at Hua Hin, Thailand.
Among the Indian players, Gaganjeet Bhullar, the 36-year-old golfer and 11 times winner of the Asian Tour titles, displayed the best performance in the Black Mountain Championship. Not only did he grab the top 10 finish, but also secured the best performance of the year by tying at the 7th, that led him to secure the 28th position on the International Series ranking.
Gaganjeet Bhullar scored a seven under 72 after the first round was wrapped up. Maintaining consistency of game, he scored a six under 72 consecutively on the second and the third rounds respectively.
However, Bhullar trailed along and had a challenging fourth round which he ended with an even par score. This culminated in an overall score of 19 under 288, and Bhullar tied at the 7th with Nick Voke of New Zealand.
Indian golfers Khalin Joshi and Karandeep Kochhar finished the final round tied at the 53rd position with an overall score of nine under 288.
Meanwhile, with an amazing overall score of 23 under 288, Michael Maguire of America clinched victory in the Black Mountain Championship 2024. He was challenged by American golfer John Catlin, who, with the same score of 23 under 288, secured the position of the runner up because of a difficult final round score. Lee Chieh Po of China secured the third position with 22 under par by putting up a tough chase.
Bhullar’s scintillating performance in the Asian Tour Black Mountain Championship followed by the impressive performance of Joshi and Kochhar highlights the prowess of the Indian players and promises that the future of Indian golf is emerging to be more and more competitive on the international stage.
