Bimal Kumar Pandey and Rehan Naidu clinched victory at the final round of the MGPS Meghalaya State Golf Championship 2024 & Batkupar J. Synrem Memorial Open, an event co-sanctioned by IGU East Zone Junior & Amateur Feeder Tour. The event was hosted at the Assam Rifles Environmental Club Park and Training Area at Laitkor, Shillong, from November 16 to November 17.

Incidentally, the MGPS Meghalaya State Golf Championship is affiliated to Meghalaya State Olympic Association, with which, the Batkupar J. Synrem Memorial Open has been collaborated in the memory of avid golfer and golf enthusiast of Shillong, Batkupar J. Synrem.

Due to certain avoidable circumstances , only nine holes were played on the second round. Posting a 42 on the second round, Bimal Kumar Pandey from the Amateur category scored an overall of 116, to win his category. Pandey clinched victory by a sudden death play-off with his strongest competitor, M. Ori, who also posted the same score. His overall score secured posted him as the winner from Mid-Amateur category as well.

Rehan Naidu, who was placed second after the first round at 81, improved his performance on the second round. Posting a 40 on the second round, Rehan won A&B Boys with 121 overall scores. He also holds the top score from B Boys as well.

Anya Singh posted the winning overall score of 111 and won the A&B Girls Combined category

Maintaining previous day’s position, Senior Yogesh Chettri won his category posting an overall score of 122. Hs score also posted him the winner from the Senior & Super-Senior Combined category

Dilip K. Borah won Super-Senior category with an overall of 129, and also became the runner up from Senior category.

Subhra Mishra from Ladies held on to her leading position consistently, and posted a total of 138 to win her category.

Participants from C Boys played 12 holes on the first round. However, their final scores were calculated over 18 hole overall, as only 9 holes were played today. Daiwik Naidu scored an overall of 80 and became the winner from C Boys.

Posting a total of 49 by playing nine holes, Aryan Bajaj won E Boys.

Akansha Jaiswal and Sahej from B Girls and C Girls won their respective categories with 222 and 122 overall scores respectively. Jaiswal also became the runner up from B Girls at 222.

M. Ori and Abhishek Mitra were placed at the second and third position with overall scores of 116 and 117 respectively from both Amateur and Mid-Amateur categories.

Kompella Suryanarayana Murty secured the runner up position from the Super-Senior category with an overall score of 144.

Anthony Hek (129) and Keisham Indrajit (130) secured the runner up and second runner up positions from the Senior & Super Senior Combined category.

Hredaan Raj Bihani and first round’s lead scorer, Shaurya Bhatnagar, scored a 123 and 134 respectively to be placed at the second and the third position from the A&B Boys Combined category. Hredaan was also placed second from B Boys.

Manan Bagrecha was placed at the third position from B Boys and furth position from the A&B Boys Combined category with a total score of 134

Naina Dinodiya scored a total of 152 and secured the position of the runner up from C Girls.

The final round ended with the distribution of the awards to the winners from different categories. The closing ceremony was star studded with dignitaries of great repute. Among the dignitaries were Mr. A.L Hek, Honourable Minister, Government of Meghalaya, Mr. James Sangma, Chairman, MIDC, and many other officials of Assam Rifles.

The championship was sponsored by the Athletic Drive, a fitness and fashion infused apparel brand and Cherry Tree. The tour’s education partner was The Champ for Life Academy. The outdoor media partner was Balaji Ads. Bisleri had come in as the water partner for this season. Keventer, Eastern India’s largest FMCG company, has been the IGU Feeder Tour sponsor and provided players with juices and milkshakes. Breathegolf and IGN News had come up as the social media partners of the event. Additionally, the championship was managed by Protouch Sports.
