The Round 1 of the AVT Champions Tour Kolkata event, being held at the prestigious Royal Calcutta Golf Club, saw Ashish Kapoor emerge as the standout performer amongst the field with a score of level par gross.

The Round 1 of the AVT Champions Tour Kolkata event, being held at the prestigious Royal Calcutta Golf Club, saw Ashish Kapoor emerge as the standout performer amongst the field with a score of a level par gross. In the Overall Gross standings, Pushpendra Singh Rathode, and Sandeep Singh Sandhu and David D’Souza followed Rathode, with scores of 74, and a tied score of 75 respectively.

The tournament, which features avid senior golfers, is a gross event which also includes individual nett categories and team categories for gross and nett.

In the category Age 50-54, Suhas Kulkarni and Sanjai Singh trail behind Ashish Kapoor with a tied score of 80. Age category 55-59 is led by Sandeep Sandhu and David D’Souza at a gross score of 75. Sanjeev Mehra, Manav Prakash and Sudeep Chitlangia tied at the first position after the first round with a score of 78.

Pushpendra Singh Rathode leads the age category 60-64 with a score of 74, followed by Jahangir Tankariwala and Jaydeep Chitlangia at 79 and 80 respectively.

In the age category 65-69, Dhananjay Date leads with a score of 80 followed by Anil Jule at 83 and Saitu Chinnathambi at 84.

The category 70+ top scorers were Lakshman Singh at 80, Gangesh Khaitan at 81 and Ashit Luthra at 82.

In the Ladies category Paromita Mukherjee leads by a margin with a score of 78 followed by Neetu Agarwal, Jayanthi Ravi and Tasneem Ali at 90.

Pushpendra Singh Rathode topped the Individual Nett (H’cap 0-9) with a score of 65 while Individual nett (H’cap 10-18) was led by Lakshman Singh with a score of 66 nett.

In Team Gross, the quartet of Gangesh Khaitan, Lokesh Malhotra, Ashish Kapoor and Pushpendra Singh Rathode led with a score of 227.

The Team Nett division saw the team of Gangesh Khaitan, Lokesh Malhotra, Ashish Kapoor and Pushpendra Singh Rathode post a leading 202.

With the final round scheduled for tomorrow, anticipation builds as the golfers prepare to battle for the championship. Backed by ardent golf supporter Mr. Dilip Thomas, the AVTi Champions Tour continues to celebrate excellence in senior golf.
