Krishiv Agarwal is a student of Class 8, studying in the St. Xaviers’ Collegiate School, Kolkata. He is loved to be called a ‘nerd’ by his friends, as he enjoys reading books, and watching superhero movies. Krishiv is a newbie in the field of golf, but is seen playing like players who actually play and win tournaments.

Krishiv Agarwal expressed his desire to start learning golf when he accompanied his mother for her golf lessons, and persuaded his mother to enroll him in the Junior Academy Program of the Protouch Golf Academy. For hours, he would observe the other students of Protouch golf Academy, or the senior golfers, trying to work on their swings, or trying to chip in their shots.

We caught Krishiv for a candid interview session, a week after he joined the Academy, and won the 1071 Long Shot Skills Competition, in the month of April.

Q. What made you interested in golf?

Krishiv: Well, my mother used to come to her golf training with Pandey sir every day, and one day I decided to tag along with her. I got really interested in the game of golf. Seeing people hit the shots with their clubs, aiming to drop the ball at a great distance, fascinated me quite a lot. Then I asked my mother if I can join the golf coaching. At first, she thought that it must be one of my whims that I would start and then give up after some time. But I persuaded my mother, that golf is what I want to do, and passionate about.

Q. How did you feel on your first day in the Protouch Golf Academy?

Krishiv: I was really interested and excited. I was watching the other children, and the senior players with the balls in the back of the net. I also wanted to do that, and play like them. I was really excited to start with golf.

Q. How did you feel when you held the first time in your hand and your coach asked you to start hitting the ball?

Krishiv: Initially, I was practicing on my own. I started hitting the balls with a 7-iron, and the first shot went upto 120-125 yards. I felt so joyful! Then my coach, Raju Ghosh sir came in, and on my first class, when he started teaching me the techniques bit by bit, I didn’t do really well. But when my coach asked me to hit the shots, I was really excited and tried to hit the best I could.

Q. Share two most fun moments in the Academy or while you were playing golf.

Krishiv: once I hit a ball, and it directly landed at 150 yards. That was exciting! And maybe getting a hole-in-one while putting for the first time during the Putting competition.

Q.  Tell us something about your coach.

Krishiv: Oh, Raju sir. He is a really nice coach. He helps me and encourages me. He helps me in rectifying my mistakes, teaches me new techniques, and is really patient with me.

Q. Who is your favourite Superhero?

Krishiv: Hulk. Hulk is my favourite superhero.

Q. Would you like to play golf with Hulk?

Krishiv: Yes, I would love to, when he is taking a break from fighting crimes. I would like to see how good he is at golf, and see if he can get a hole-in-one. I will tell him that I can get it faster than him. (smiles).

Q. Are you a Potterhead?

Krishiv: Yes, very much. You see my specs? I got this custom made. My specs are just like Harry Potter’s. I told the optic centre staff that I need those Harry Potter classes no matter what.

Q. Being a Potterhead, would you like to apply any magic trick in golf to make your game better?

Krishiv: Definitely a Wingardium Leviosa (imitates the way Hermione Granger said it in the movie) to make the balls zoop in the hole. Banishing Charms will also be nice.

Q. Who is your favourite golfer?

Krishiv: I think, I only know one, and that is Tiger woods. Who doesn’t know him? He is the greatest golfer of all times.

Q. what is your goal for the future?

Krishiv: I want to play on the course and try to play really nicely, win more competitions, and play for the club.
