Scottie Scheffler produced a clinical third round at Quail Hollow with a 6-under 65 to take the solo lead at 11-under. The round featured three bogeys, but was punctuated by an exquisite eagle on the par-4 14th hole and a run of birdies late in the round. Scheffler goes into the final round with a three-shot lead.

Sweden’s Alex Noren moved into second place with a good finish, and Davis Riley and J.T. Poston share third place, four strokes behind. Jon Rahm moved into contention under the radar with a steady 67, five behind the leader.

Past champion Jhonattan Vegas lost steam, slipping back after a nervous front nine. Bryson DeChambeau briefly flirted with the lead, but late bogeys sent him out of serious contention.

The play on Saturday was interrupted by a prolonged weather delay that prompted them to switch to split tees. Despite this, the action developed quickly once the play resumed.

With a single round remaining, everyone is looking to Scheffler. If he continues in this fashion, a third major victory might be only 18 holes away.
