The week culminated under the sun at the legendary Sunningdale Old Course, where Pádraig Harrington executed a composed and strategic final round, securing victory in the 2025 ISPS Handa Senior Open Championship. With his second major title of the season in the senior category, Harrington solidified his reputation as a timeless figure in golf.

Indian supporters found a reason for optimism in Arjun Atwal, who finished off a steady week; meanwhile, Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa navigated different hurdles, concluding their experiences at one of the Legends Tour’s most esteemed events.

Harrington’s Class Shines Through

Starting the final round with a narrow lead, Harrington remained unfazed. He kicked off with a remarkable eagle on the first hole, immediately establishing the day’s tempo. Following this, he collected several birdies while skillfully maneuvering through the course’s intricate challenges. Although he registered two bogeys—one on the 8th and another on the 17th—he maintained his command, scoring a final-round 67 and finishing the championship at 16-under-par (264).

His performance showcased a blend of patience, experience, and his characteristic rhythm under pressure. Harrington has now claimed victories in both The Open Championship and its senior version, an impressive feat that positions him among the most distinguished dual-era players in golf.

Chasing Pack Falls Short

Despite their determined efforts, Thomas Bjørn and Justin Leonard were unable to catch up to the leading score. Both concluded at 13-under-par, tied for second place. Leonard made a strong push with an aggressive nine holes, while Bjørn maintained consistency throughout the middle phases, yet neither could match Harrington’s unwavering steadiness.

Other noteworthy finishers included Ernie Els and Scott Hend, who achieved commendable totals over the four days but ultimately couldn’t narrow the gap.

Arjun Atwal: A Composed Performance

Atwal showcased one of the most consistent weeks among those outside the top contenders. He secured back-to-back rounds of 69 over the weekend, finishing at -3, tied for 24th place. While never truly in contention for the title, his dependable iron play and quiet confidence were evident throughout.

Jeev Milkha Singh: Strong Finish

Following a challenging third round, Jeev rebounded with a final round of 69, achieving a final tally of +5. His week illustrated resilience—occasionally uneven—but punctuated by flashes of classic brilliance.

Jyoti Randhawa: Battled Through

In spite of a challenging opening round, Randhawa displayed commendable determination by completing all four rounds. His final score of +16 may not have met his expectations, yet his performances in the second and third rounds affirmed that he retains the capability to persevere on demanding courses.

Harrington continues to excel on the senior circuit, combining power with precision in a display befitting a champion.

Atwal’s top-25 result provides a foundation for future senior majors.

Both Jeev and Randhawa exhibited commendable resolve and professionalism, underscoring their enduring impact on Indian golf.
