Austin Smotherman (-17) stormed into the lead after a sensational second-round 63 (-9) at Black Desert Golf Course, building a one-shot advantage heading into the weekend. Backing up his opening 64 with another bogey-free display, Smotherman emerged as the player to catch after 36 holes.
Just behind at -16, Kevin Roy continued his impressive form with an outstanding 64 (-8) to remain firmly in contention. A pair of Americans, Doug Ghim (-15) and Kevin Streelman (-15), share third place after posting rounds of 63 (-9) and 65 (-7) respectively, keeping the pressure on the leaders.
Germany’s Stephan Jaeger (-14) sits in fifth after a steady -6 round, while Steven Fisk (-13) occupies sixth place. At -12, Michael Brennan and Neal Shipley are tied for seventh, with Shipley producing one of the standout performances of the day thanks to a superb 64 (-8).
A large group at -11 remains well within striking distance, including Jackson Suber, David Lipsky, Ben James, Max McGreevy, Trace Crowe, Jimmy Van Der Laan, Zach Bauchou, Chris Kirk, and Chad Ramey. With just six shots separating the leader from this group, the tournament remains wide open.
